As part of Mark Hix’ expanding group, this intimate and friendly restaurant offers the chance to enjoy high quality, fresh and predominantly local fish in relaxed and unpretentious surroundings.
The small terrace on the upper deck with a wooden bar seats up to eight people – possibly the best spot on the South West coast to enjoy lobster and chips or a dozen oysters and bottle of Champagne whilst gazing out to sea. Floor to ceiling windows offer indoor diners great views on cooler days.
Downstairs seating provides entertainment of a different kind with an open kitchen and bar area, so you can watch the chefs at work while you eat. The chefs are also keen to show off their skills, adapting some of Hix’ new creations, so you may be recommended Absinthe jelly or any other innovation!
Their ethos is to use the very best ingredients, cooked simply. The menu consists of a small number of house dishes using fresh fish from sustainable sources and a blackboard of the day’s landings. Diners can choose between light bites on toast, or more substantial dishes served with delicious sides. There is a variety of seasonal oysters available at any time, and the provenance of most of the ingredients can be traced on the website’s list of local suppliers.
