Set in the heart of Winchester, the historic capital of ancient Wessex, the original Hotel du Vin is a unique luxury boutique hotel housed in the fine architecture of one of central Winchester’s most important Georgian buildings, which dates back to 1715.

The hotel has an intimate ambience emphasised by the cosy signature Hotel Du Vin Bistro and a pretty walled garden: ideal for a pre-dinner drink or glass of Champagne.

The Bistro offers a menu rooted in classic European cuisine with a contemporary edge. Head chef, Marcela Morales offers ‘simple classics’ that change seasonally, adding her own selections daily. The Bistro philosophy is to use the finest and freshest local produce, cooked simply, priced sensibly.

The extensive and eclectic wine list is a key feature of the hotel. In addition to the main list, including an impressive array by the glass, there is a small daily selection of good value wines to complement the menu. Head of Bar and Cigars, Yohann Jousselin, and his team are always happy to give friendly, knowledgeable advice.

Although smoking is not allowed anywhere in the hotel, those wanting to enjoy a cigar can make use of the newly-designed ‘cigar shack’. Yohann is happy to share his knowledge with connoisseurs and novices alike.
