The Armada Restaurant at Rhinefield House
Rhinefield House dates from the 1880s and is set in the midst of beautiful Crown Forest land. Approached by the delightful Ornamental Drive, famous for its colourful Azaleas and Rhododendrons.
The house has recently been refurbished to a high standard whilst maintaining the many original features. The Armada is now the Restaurant while the Alhambra forms an extension to the Armada. The Restaurant is named after magnificent carving of the Armada set into the fireplace. Created by Aumonnier with a surrounding by Grinling Gibbons, it took nine years to complete, and is carved from a solid block of oak
The Armada creates a special atmosphere in which to enjoy a fine dining experience to mark a special occasion or just for the pleasure of it. Each table has a designated waiter, and as the staff all taste the dishes and wine, they are able to offer diners advice from experience. The deputy manager is one of the country’s top sommeliers so can advise on the perfect accompaniment to your meal. The wine list is divided into two sections, first by style, offering a chance to experiment with some unfamiliar wines; the second is from the private cellar – more for the serious wine enthusiast.
The menu of modern British cuisine changes once a month. Executive Chef David Kinners and team serve traditional favourites with a modern twist and to create some new dishes with the hope that they will one day be considered traditional favourites. They cater for those who know what they want as well as diners with a more adventurous palette, but always with exceptional quality ingredients sourced from local producers wherever possible.
