The Avenue Restaurant at Lainston House Hotel
Situated within the stunning 17th Century Lainston House Hotel, The Avenue Restaurant takes its name from the magnificent mile long avenue of lime trees viewed from your table.
As part of Exclusive Hotels, the luxury county house hotel group, the Avenue Restaurant is an intimate, elegant restaurant perfect for lunch or dinner and has a reputation for the highest standards of cooking as well as a beautiful setting in which to enjoy your meal. As well as the sumptuous interior, the beautiful covered terrace overlooks the lime tree avenue, and is perfect for al fresco dining.
The restaurant has been consistently and deservedly awarded three rosettes by the AA and a pleasant surprise awaits anyone who thinks The Avenue is too expensive – lunches are available from just £21.50 and dinner starts at £34.50.
Executive Chef Andy Mackenzie (Hampshire Chef of the Year for two years running) and his team cook with passion and pride, using local suppliers in everything they prepare. But that’s not all – Lainston House has developed its own kitchen garden which provides many ingredients for the brigade of chefs, they even hand rear their own Gloucester Old Spot pigs and several bee hives are a recent new addition. The emphasis is on fresh, local food as Andy explains; “Quality and seasonality make a huge difference, and we are very passionate about letting the food speak for itself and not complicating dishes”.
The extensive, seasonally influenced menu of ostensibly English cooking with a modern twist is complemented every evening with a seven-course tasting menu to tempt all palates and tastes. And if you are a connoisseur of wines, you will be pleased to know that over 250 wines are available by the glass!
It’s impossible to talk about The Avenue Restaurant without mentioning the stunning desserts – all down to head pastry chef, Mark Tilling who is the UK Chocolate Master also for the second year running and has launched his own special blend of milk and dark chocolate.
