Chewton Glen

The restaurant at Chewton Glen offers fine dining in beautiful surroundings using only the finest local ingredients prepared by executive head chef Luke Matthews and his team. Chewton Glen is a privately-owned country house hotel and spa situated in Hampshire on the edge of the New Forest National Park and just a short walk from the sea. The hotel is a member of Relais & Chateaux and has been awarded 5 AA Red Stars and three rosettes for its restaurant.

The Marryat Restaurant offers a variety of dishes from a selection of menus. The focus is firmly on creating fabulous menus promoting seasonal, organic, adventurous food presented with a creative contemporary twist. The restaurant has an excellent reputation for high quality cuisine using the best quality ingredients. Local produce includes wild mushrooms, game and vegetables from the New Forest, together with seafood from Christchurch Bay and Lymington.

Luke Mathews and his brigade of 27 chefs prepare around 80,000 meals a year. Luke was appointed sous chef in 1993 and promoted to the post of executive head chef in 2003. Alan Holmes joined Chewton Glen in 2004 as chef sommelier; he brings a vast array of experience and knowledge to the restaurant team headed by food and beverage director Fatima Guerra. With a love of good food and great wines Alan is on hand to offer advice on your selection of wines from a list of over 600 bins.

Amongst the popular culinary events that take place regularly at Chewton Glen are the monthly Wine Tasting Evenings, cookery demonstration and gourmet dinners with celebrity chefs. Receiving a commendation recently in the 2009 Harden’s Restaurant Guide of the finest restaurants in the UK, very few establishments match this ‘special’ New Forest hotel.

"Fantastic!"

We had an absolutely lovely meal in the Marryat Restaurant. Both the food and service was impeccable!
