JSW
Situated in the main part of Petersfield, formally a 17th century coaching inn, JSW is no ordinary restaurant. From the moment you enter the front door into the tranquil, stylish restaurant, or through to the secluded courtyard, you are greeted with the feeling that your experience of dining will be somewhat special. The beautiful, original beams and drawings by the owner’s sister add to the ambience of the restaurant.
Chef proprietor, Michelin star owner Jake Watkins has built up a well-earned reputation for simple, tasty food, cooked to a very high standard. The cuisine is Modern British, beautifully presented and bursting with flavour. The menu is constantly updated with fine seasonal ingredients including locally caught fish, lamb, beef and pork from Cumbria with chicken, duck and fowl from France. Delicious vegetarian dishes are also available.
Everything is home-made, from canapés to breads, chocolates and ice-creams. Jake believes that cooking is a craft, and by using their creativity, he and his team can give pleasure to others.
There is an extensive list of fine wines to complement each course. Gourmet monthly wine evenings will be taking place in 2009 commencing with an aperitif, followed by four tutored wines to complement a four-course tasting menu.
Dining at JSW is not only about the food, it’s about the hospitality and giving the customers a memorable and relaxed time. Unlike many other restaurants, Jake doesn’t believe in turning tables, so you can feel free to enjoy your meal at your leisure.
